I knew there was a reason I loved Quicksilver. It’s not just because it’s like having a command-line interface to the GUI part of Mac OS X, although that is very very cool. It’s not just because it’s got a purdy calculator plugin, or instant access to my entire iTunes library, regardless of [...]
I recently spent about 8 evening and weekend hours writing a database conversion program. This program sucks data out of an agency’s existing database and transfers it into the format required by my own beautiful program. They emailed me last week, asking me to add the contents of one more field to the [...]
On my way into the PSU library, I passed two people in conversation. I overheard, “so man was created different from animals in that respect… and that’s gotta make you think!”
Sometimes I wish I’d actually gone to college ten years ago, when such a conversation might have been an amusing diversion. Now, I [...]
Wow. Just ran across this via a blog on Salon: it’s a quick mini-documentary on the history of the Wikipedia entry for “heavy metal umlaut.” He traces the evolution of the web page (and by the way, I think a complete history is available for every page on the Wikipedia), mentioning typographical [...]
Happy birthday, Macintosh! Next year, you’ll finally be You’re finally old enough to drink… ;>
…is not [only] through his stomach. LED flashlights, to quote Robert Frost, “are also great, and would suffice.”
For Christmas, fawnapril and I stayed home this year and got each other “Painting The Kitchen” as our gift. We did also exchange a few small things. She gave me some new pajamas and a [...]
(C++ still sucks. Film at eleven.)
DSL modem stopped working altogether on Saturday. (Actually, it stopped working, started working again while I was on hold for tech support, then stopped working once I hung up with them.) It’ll probably be a few days before they ship a replacement to me, which means I’ll be limited to school wifi unless [...]
So I’ve been working on the homework for my CS class at PSU (link), and owing to the fact that (a) I really hate C++ and (b) I haven’t worked with C++ in about six months, my progress has not been what you’d call fast.
I keep losing sight of the design because I’m bogged down [...]
As had been rumored, Apple came out with a less expensive, Flash-based iPod. My only complaint is that, since it lacks an LCD display and external speaker, I can’t replace my Palm with it (which would lighten the load on my pockets). Nonetheless, it shall be mine.
Oh yes. It shall be mine.
( Ramblings [...]
Color me flabbergasted: the upstairs patio over misterjustin’s bonsai fell down.
Wow.
(Fortunately, while I am in class, the instructor has gone off on a tangent about complexity theory, and is now talking about The Game Of Life, which I’ve seen him talk about at least three times in prior terms…)
Wifi access is now available in at least one of my classrooms (computer science at PCC Sylvania). I think I can get online from my psych class also… ironically, I *can’t* get on from my CS classroom at PSU, which campus supposedly has wireless available all over the place.
Still, it’s pretty cool. When [...]
Weeks later, it appears to have been forgotten about… so naturally, I’ll bring it back up again. (=
( Answers to the song meme )
I didn’t expect anyone to get the Dave Carter songs, although it is my firm belief that everyone should hear and enjoy Dave’s music (start here). Especially since he died after the [...]
